- Eagle Eye: The Mekong delta in the south, the entire coast line on the east, Hanoi and further north to Sapa into the mountains.
- Hot Spots: Saigon (fast westernizing since I first visited in 1997), coastal towns of Hue, and Hoi An. Also Halong Bay, Hanoi, the northern mountain range around the town of Sapa...and everywhere off the beaten tourist tracts - be careful of the landmines.
- The Low-down: Be careful of tourist scams as this is the country at the top of my list for tourist scams!! Generally safe, but scams can ruin you if you are not alert all the time!
